Caregiver Health Screening
Oasis HomeCare Services follows established health screening and infection-control protocols to protect both clients and caregivers.
Caregivers Who:
- Are experiencing symptoms of an infectious illness
- Have been advised by a healthcare provider to isolate
- May pose a risk of transmitting illness
will not be assigned to provide care until they are medically cleared or meet established return-to-work guidelines.
How Infectious Diseases Spread
Many infectious diseases can spread through:
- Respiratory droplets from coughing or sneezing
- Direct person-to-person contact
- Contact with contaminated surfaces or objects
- Exposure to bodily fluids
- Poor hand hygiene and sanitation practices
Understanding how illnesses spread helps us take appropriate precautions to protect vulnerable individuals, especially older adults and those with weakened immune systems.
Steps You Can Take to Stay Healthy
We encourage clients, families, and caregivers to follow these important prevention practices:
- Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when handwashing is unavailable
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
- Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow
- Regularly clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces
- Stay current with recommended vaccinations and preventive healthcare
- Maintain adequate hydration, nutrition, and rest
- Avoid close contact with individuals who are ill
- Seek medical guidance when symptoms develop
- Stay informed through trusted healthcare sources
Individuals at Higher Risk
Certain individuals may be more vulnerable to complications from infectious diseases, including:
- Older adults
- Individuals with chronic medical conditions
